Post 6: English Language Challenges

Imagen
Hello everyone! Today is the last post on my blog, an important moment. Almost finishing the semester of classes I can say that I liked this English course. After two years of online classes, I really missed the face-to-face modality and what I like about the English course is that it allows me to meet people from other careers. Although the classes were very early, I liked meeting and sharing with new classmates. Personally, I think that one of the things I need to improve in my English has to do with grammar. When I listen to conversations or watch series in English I can understand without any problem, but speaking still costs me a bit. I learned about grammar in this English course, but I think I need to improve some things. Finally, English is a very important language, especially in careers such as sociology, where you have to read many articles or texts that are sometimes in English. It is also very important when it comes to work or if you are interested in l...

Post 5 : Changes to my study program

Imagen
Hi everyone! Today I am going to talk to you about my career, specifically about the study plan and my opinion about it. Now, I am in my fourth year of sociology at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Chile. I really like the career but if there are things that I would like to change to the program. For example, we have many theoretical branches like "Contemporary Sociological Theories", "Sociological Theories of Modern Society", "Classical Sociological Theory" and more. But the branches of more practical subjects are few and they are just beginning the third year of the career. In addition, in the theoretical branches, very old theories are often seen that do not ground themselves to the current problems of society. Sometimes the things that are studied in the program cannot be taken to the present and that makes it difficult for the work that comes after leaving the career. Also, being so theoretical, the career is very academic. The fiel...

Post 3 : Your dream job

Imagen
My dream job is to work in municipalities or projects that can help people. But I didn't always have this idea. At first, when I started studying sociology, I didn't know what I wanted to work on in the future. Now in the fourth year of my degree, I think what interests me is working in public affairs, such as in municipalities, in projects or in areas related to the dissemination and access of culture for all, regardless of their socioeconomic status. In addition to this, I think I would like to work outdoors, and at the same time it would also be very rewarding to be able to travel doing what I like. Regarding travel, I think it is related to the fact that I will be able to see how in other more developed countries, there is better access to education and culture, seeing how government policies help that. I imagine this work as something enriching, from which I will be able to take advantage and give something to those who do not have access, such as culture, either t...

The best concert ever

Imagen
Hi everyone! Today I will tell you about the best concert I have been to. This concert was "La Cumbre del Rock Chileno" in January 2017 at the Estadio Nacional. It was a special version of the event because it was the last performance of the singer Jorge González. The line up of the concert had many chilean bands and artists that I really liked. For example, Ases Falsos, Chancho en Piedra, Javiera Mena and, my favorite, Alex Anwandter. Alex is a chilean singer, musician and producer. He is known for his old indie pop band Teleradio Donoso. After the separation of his band, he released his first solo album in 2011 called "Rebeldes", my favorite album. In "La Cumbre del Rock Chileno 2017" Alex had a short presentation, but he sang one of my favorite songs: "¿Cómo puedes vivir contigo mismo?". The music video for this song is inspired by the documentary "Paris is Burning", I recommend it! I really enjoyed the concert. I saw many importan...
